To accompany my recent posts on appliqué, here’s a free template for you to use. You can use this template with my tutorial on how to appliqué with fusible web.

I embroidered the kite tail by tracing the line from the template and then sewing in satin stitch along it; align the dotted part of the template with the centre line of the kite. Alternatively, you could use ribbon or fancy trim for the tail. You don’t have to follow the line in the template if you don’t want to – in fact, you could even leave it loose.
I also decided to add some mini bows to the tail: I followed this video on how to make bows using a fork.
